Friday Feel-Good Blog

Deborah's Diary

It’s been one of those weeks where I wondered if I would have anything to share for my Friday Feel-Good blog. After a couple of cups of coffee and some thinking time, I realized I had plenty of feel-good moments to share.

Thanksgiving

Our family Thanksgiving get-together was a tremendous success, although not everyone could make it. Sometimes, that’s a good thing, especially when all of the adults could sit around the dining room table without getting sent off to the kids’ table. Our dear friend Sunny arrived to help me with the turkey and prepare the vegetable dishes in the morning. Sunny tries to make it to every family gathering, and she wants to know how to put a turkey dinner together. Sunny is from South Korea and has lived here most of her life since arriving as a high school student many years ago. Our family gatherings aren’t complete without her. https://deboraharmstrong.ca/2022/10/07/friday-feel-good-blog-17/

This Week’s Winner

Congratulations to Sandra S., this week’s book giveaway winner. Sandra is one of my followers who doesn’t do social media, only following me through my newsletters and blogs. It’s always a thrill to have a follower reach out to me and ask how to win when the contest rules don’t apply. Thank you, Sandra, for making us rethink our contest and make it winnable for everyone.

Feel-Good Farm Life

We farm in Peel County. Farmers in our area are slowly, or not so slowly, getting pressured to pack up and move elsewhere or pack up and call it quits. The Peel Federation of Agriculture put this video together of the young farmers in our area. I encourage you to watch it. Yes, my family is in it, but so are a lot of familiar faces you may know if you live in our area or shop from local farm businesses. I encourage you to watch this video https://youtu.be/3pTBFYEdEnc.

Feel-Good Family Moment

This week, the grandchildren sat in their backyard and watched Uncle Peter harvest soybeans. Watching every aspect of farming, from planting to harvest, is a thrill for the children. When daddy came home, the two eldest changed into their farm clothes – matching coveralls, T-shirts and hats, and walked out into the field to catch a ride with Uncle Peter. Oh, to be a fly in the combine’s cab and know what they talked about for the time it took to fill the hopper and unload it into the truck.

This weekend, I’ll be working on my next book. I can’t tell you what it is yet. There’s not enough to share. I hope that I’ll have something ready for you soon.

Until then, have a great weekend. Enjoy the fall weather. And most of all, happy reading.
