Strong Coffee is the Only Cure that Works

Friday Feel-Good Feeling
Author drinking coffee while writing
It’s one of those days when it’s hard to find that Friday feel-good feeling. I can blame it on the change in weather or on tension in my neck, but I’ve got a doozy of a migraine today.
I used to have migraines on a daily basis. Now they visit me once in a while. When I find the morning too bright to face, I know that it’s one of those days.
Fortunately, I found some relief, or should I call it a diversion? My grandkiddies and favourite DIL popped by for a farm walk this morning. I donned my sunglasses and joined them for a walk around the farm, happy to have the chance to forget about the pain behind my eyes
We made our way to the maternity barn, checked on the cows, and then proceeded to the storage shed for the round bales. The three eldest grandkiddies decided to climb the bales. They are big enough now to climb without assistance. Lachlan, the youngest, didn’t want to climb. Instead, he wanted to visit Pa, what he calls my hubby.
The little gaffer (2 years old) wanted to walk instead of riding in his wagon. I was impressed that he made it across the farm to the milking barn. At his pace, it took us ten minutes to get to Pa. Pa was happy for the visit and quickly carried Lachlan around the barn to check things out.
Once the novelty of the visit wore out, we headed back to join the rest of the gang. By the time we made it to the wagon, Lachlan didn’t have the energy to walk. My Fitbit recorded 2600 steps. I wonder how many steps it was for Lachlan?
The grandkiddies and mommy went home, and I returned to the comfort of my home. No bright lights to contend with. Instead, I’ve been drinking coffee and thinking of how much I enjoy hanging out with the grandkiddies, and how much of a feel-good feeling I have with them living so close to us. We are extremely fortunate.

Weekend Plans

It’s the May long weekend. In Canada, we celebrate Queen Victoria’s birthday on the weekend before the 24th day of May. Queen Victoria was born on May 24, 1819.
When the weather cooperates, we celebrate with BBQs and fireworks. Hopefully, we’ll have nice weather this weekend, and we can hang out on the patio.
If you’re Canadian, have a great May 24 weekend! If you’re not Canadian, have a great weekend, too!
