Friday Feel-Good Blog

Deborah's Diary

Today is the last day of September, and I’m undecided if it’s cause for a feel-good. Another month has come and gone. Do you find that the months are passing by faster than they used to? One moment it’s the first day of the month, the 15th, and the last day. I need time to slow down just a bit.

Happy Birthday!

This week, my adorable grandson turned 5. Where has the time gone? He’s still the smart and sassy little boy who knows everything about farming, farm machinery, dinosaurs, wild animals, and space. If we don’t know the answer to his question, he asks us to Google it for him. And if we don’t have the time, he will remind us of the Google search we promised the next time he sees us. This weekend we are invited over for Tim Bits and doughnuts. No birthday cake – he’s not a fan of cake. Every visit with him and his sisters is a definite feel-good moment.

What’s Your Top Feel-Good National Day?

Every day is a national day of something. If not for national days, some of us wouldn’t have posts to share on social media. In Canada, today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It’s a day for honouring the children who never returned home and the survivors of residential schools. https://www.canada.ca/en/canadian-heritage/campaigns/national-day-truth-reconciliation.html

On the lighter feel-good side, it’s National Chewing Gum Day and National Love People Day. I’ve had to give up chewing gum because I always bite the inside of my cheek. Ouch! Yes,  I am one of those who cannot walk and chew gum. National Love People Day is something I try to do every day. Family, friends, and those I’ve met, including followers who comment on my posts.

Thanksgiving so Soon?

I didn’t realize that Thanksgiving was so close when I sent out last week’s blog. Fortunately, I ordered the turkey in advance. One of my nightmares is hosting Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner and forgetting to cook dinner. The turkey is still at Downey’s https://downeysfarm.com/, and there are no vegetables to prepare or cook. It’s a disaster, hence, a nightmare. Do you have recurring bad dreams that come around the holidays?

My October Feel-Good Book Campaign

My book campaign for October has started. Every Monday, a lucky winner will be chosen. If you comment on my blog, I’ll add your name to the list for those who only follow my newsletter or blog. I want everyone to have the chance to feel good about this campaign.

Weekend Plans

Last weekend, I did not reach my word count. However, I did read Mara Purl’s book, When Otters Play. Did you make use of the free download? I read the book and thoroughly enjoyed Mara’s story. I learned a great deal about the sea otters: how they feed, sleep and look after their young.

Here’s the book I’ll be reading this weekend. My author friend Jeannette Seibly is running an Amazon book giveaway this weekend. Jeannette writes both fiction and business books. If you own your own business or work in human resources, her book, Hiring Amazing Employees, is the book for you. Here’s the link to Amazon.ca https://www.amazon.ca/Hire-Amazing-Employees-Increase-Retention-ebook/dp/B0BFBYFSYL/

Enjoy your weekend, and happy reading!
