Midnight is a few hours away, and it’s time for me to make my list of New Year’s resolutions. Every year, I start with good intentions, and I’m always happy when I achieve one of my goals. However, they seem to be the same as the previous year. At least, I’m consistent. https://deboraharmstrong.ca/2021/01/20/resolutions-and-accomplishments/
This coming year, I hope to improve my organizational skills. Sometimes I’m on top of my game, but I’m struggling to catch up most of the time. The better organized I am, the more writing I can do. I have plans for two books and a short story or two. I’ve already got my post-it notes labelled and stuck to my office cabinet to remind me of my goals. I’ve got my 2022 calendar ready for writing deadlines.
Making a List
Taking Care of Business
So, once I’ve scheduled my writing, I have to make goals for book marketing. Marketing takes up a lot of time and energy. I’m working on new ideas for my newsletter and my blogs. Thank you for following my newsletter and blogs. Also, thank you to those of you who send me emails. I love making that connection with you.
Taking Care of Myself
Most of all, my most important goal is to look after myself. I’m in good health, but I want to become more active. Since our lockdowns and restrictions, I haven’t visited the gym. My workouts are limited to my stationary bike and walking around the farm with the family. My family is my incentive. When life returns to normalcy that allows us to travel, I’d like to go on a family holiday. I’ll probably have to do a lot of walking while on holiday, so I better get myself into shape while I have the time.
I also want to read more books. I want to escape into worlds other than mine, enjoying fellow authors’ storytelling.
I have a New Year’s Eve habit of ending the year with a tidy house, including my office. My desk cleared, all but a calendar for the New Year. The pantry and fridge have food, and there’s gas in the car. I’m ready to meet the year on a positive note.
Resolutions – Yes or No?
How about you? Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Do you find them silly, or do they keep you focused on achieving your goals? If you have any you’d like to share, please do. Maybe you have a resolution I should have too.
All the best to you in 2022!
Happy reading!
