04 Feb Author’s Confessions
I’m an Author
Confessing you’re an author. For some, it’s hard to do. “I’m an author” comes out softly, almost with embarrassment. We’re not used to hearing the words pass our lips. If we happen to write steamy romance, do we confess it to our friends and family? Author’s confessions – I liken it to being naked in a room filled with people. Will they be shocked at what they read, or will they smile and say, “I knew she was like that.”
She writes romance books!
Pen Names – Yes or No?
I know several authors who use a pen name to keep their writing hidden from friends and family. Out of respect for their parents or their culture, they keep their writing private. The shock factor would be too great to handle. They have a life outside of their writing, and they keep the two separate.
My lips are sealed.
I’m an Author – Say it Loud and Proud
I have to admit that the thought never crossed my mind to keep my writing a secret. However, once I got used to being naked in front of my friends and family, I could give my stories the full attention they deserved. After that, confessing or saying that I’m an author comes as naturally to me as breathing. “I’m an author. I have published a book.” I’m proud of my accomplishments. I’ve managed to put thousands of words together to make wonderful stories. Better yet, I write stories that fans of romance want to read. My tag line is “Author of hot and spicy romance with a touch of country,” and I plan on writing many stories.
My heroine, Davina, has trouble confessing that she’s an author. https://deboraharmstrong.ca/forever-love/ She published a bestseller, destined to become a Hollywood blockbuster, and yet, she won’t talk about her book. What else does she need to convince herself that she can write? As an author, it’s easy to know what she’s thinking. I’ve been there. Am I a one-hit-wonder? Will my books succeed? Will they sell? Moreover, will I ever come up with another story idea? Fortunately, I can ignore my doubts for a few moments and continue to write. Whether it’s a blog, a short story, or a novel, I have stories to tell. That is to say, I confess. I am an author.
