Peony is one of my favourite flowers. I wished they bloomed all summer. My earliest memory of the Peony was at my grandparents’ house in Edmonton. Peonies grew alongside the walkway to the front door. As a child, I would spend visits with my grandfather watching the ants as they busied themselves around the buds. My mother brought some of the plants with her to Ontario and grew them in her flowerbeds. When we grew up and had homes of our own, Mom divided plants from the originals for us to grow in our gardens. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing that we have Grandad’s peonies in our gardens.
